I love to play baseball and so do my adult sons. We drive past the fields and reminisce about the years I coached and managed teams and how they loved to play the game. I too love to crack the bat and field the ball and now that I am 50 and my body is telling me, "man if you don't get out and move, you will turn to stone."
I am not ready to turn to stone. I don't get into gym memberships or running on a machine at home. The only thing that calls is the baseball field of green. Maybe its just a dream, but I bet there are thousands of men in the same boat.
So, maybe it's time to dig out that old glove and come out to the park to play. It doesn't matter how fast or slow, and for me it was never about winning as much as being part of the game.
I figure each weekend there should be 20 guys between 21 and 59 who could show up for a game. We could stretch and drill for an hour and then play six innings and see where it goes from there.
We will need umps and coaches too. Just come for the fun.
